Shawn was born in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province in China. He studied and worked in Beijing and Shenzhen throughout his 20s and 30s. After acquiring 15 years of solid experience in international trade, Shawn founded his own trading firm in Shenzhen in 2010. He moved to Hong Kong in 2013.

Shawn learned to play golf back in 2008. He describes himself as a weekend golfer who enjoys teeing off at Mission Hills, his home club. Not long after moving to Hong Kong, he discovered the Society on meetup.com, and has since been actively participating in their events. Shawn's current handicap is 20. His goal is to get down to single digit. He hopes to achieve this by improving his swing, course management, and mental toughness.
