Born and raised in New York, Gilbert had his first brush with entrepreneurship at 17, when he helped a professor market a High-Frequency Trading platform to fund managers. While he was getting his BSc. in Mechanical Engineering at the New York Institute of Technology, he found himself dabbling in the complex world of algorithmic trading. A few years later, after joining his father on a business trip to Hong Kong, he fell in love with the city and later moved there. Since then, Gilbert has also established a number of tech startups including Alvontro, and Nimbus DX. He is an active public speaker, having given talks at institutions such as the City University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Gilbert is also a member of the HKMBA Toastmasters Club.
Gilbert picked up golf from a mentor in 2012. He noticed there was a lack of worthy platforms that would bring golfers together in Hong Kong, which inspired him to form a golf community on meetup.com in hopes to attract golfers to meet, interact, and play golf together. Since inception, more and more people joined the community, participating in its events and activities, prompting the formation of the Hong Kong Prime Golf Society.
